Cost Comparison between Regulated Live-In Care and a Residential Care Home
Cost Comparison between Regulated Live-In Care and a Residential Care Home
It is challenging to directly compare the cost of regulated live-in care and a residential care home. Although ultimately they both provide peace of mind for you, your family, or loved ones, they achieve this in a very different way.
The fully managed regulated live-in care service that Alcedo Care provides for a single person is roughly around the same cost of a good care home. However the benefits of Live-In Care, including the one-to-one care, benefit of remaining independent, active in the community, and avoiding the stress of separation while staying in the comfort of your own home means that live-in care’s value far outweighs that of residential care.
Regulated live-In Care for couples can be very cost-effective when compared to residential care. In most cases, care home fees for two will be double the price of a single placement, meaning that Live-in care for couples can be significantly cheaper than residential care.
Those who value their independence and want to spend most of the cost of care on one-to-one dedicated professional care, then live-in care is probably the option for you.
How Alcedo Care helps to simplify your live in care costs
As a regulated care provider, all of our carers are employed directly by us, so our team take care of all salary and contract matters for you. This means that you can focus more on the relationship and support you receive from your carer, without any additional paperwork or conversations around money or payments.
Many live in care agencies are unregulated by CQC, meaning they can only act as a introduction agency. As well as meaning you will have to deal with all the management of your carer’s contract, salary, pension and holiday pay, you will also find that they are unable to help fulfil certain care needs such as personal care.
Can I get help to fund Live-In Care?
Wondering if you qualify for live-in care funding or benefits? Although most of our customers pay for their care themselves, there may be live-in care funding options or benefits available to you to help to pay for your care.
These options include Attendance Allowance, Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Social Services funding, and you can confirm your eligibility by speaking to your social worker or local council.
You may also be eligible for Continuing Healthcare (CHC) funding, which is granted to people either with ongoing complex care needs who require intensive support at home on a permanent basis or those needing palliative care (end of life care) where the prognosis is short.
If you would like to opt for this arrangement, please speak with your local authority.
Ongoing Live-in Care
The cost of your care will be dependent on your needs. As a general guide, Alcedo Cares’ fees are generally comparable with the price of a good care home; however, that’s where the comparison ends. Our live-in care provides full-time one-to-one tailored support in your own home’s comfort and safety.
Alcedo Cares’ fees cover the full service and go towards providing exceptional care, including for nurse-led complex care needs including:
- Live-In Care for Acquired Brain Injury.
- Tracheostomy, Catheter, bowel, and stoma care.
- Live-In Care for Degenerative conditions – like Motor Neuron Disease, dementia,
- Parkinson’s disease and MS.
- Live in Care for Stroke patients
- Palliative care (end-of-life care).
- Live-In Cancer care
- PEG feeding and general gastronomy care
- Respiratory conditions
The exact costs of your care will be dependent on your needs. We will be able to indicate the price of your care following the initial telephone consultation. Once we have visited your home for a full no-obligation assessment, we will confirm the exact cost.
Respite, Short Term Flexible Live-in Care
We appreciate the pressures that looking after a loved one can put on a family – that’s why as well as ongoing Live-In Care, we are able to provide short term respite care packages. This means you can benefit from Live-In Care for anything from 3 days up to 21 days. The cost for short-term care packages have rates starting at £196/day.
As with ongoing live-in care, there will be a full assessment of your care needs, allowing us to determine your requirements and an exact price for your live-in respite package.
